The Alchemy of Synchronicity

Feb 17, 2016

A few months ago, I sat at my computer, surrounded by my books and magazines that I love so much, wondering what I could do to serve the world in the biggest way. I am not even sure how the idea crystallized in my heart and mind, but it came to me that I should create an online magazine for women.

I wanted to create a platform for women to support each other whole-heartedly, grow spiritually, and do something spectacular in the world. Specifically, I wanted to share soul-centered women's best ideas on concepts such as abundance, creativity, courage, transformation, and simplicity, to name a few.

At the time, there were many unknowns: How would I find people to contribute to the magazine? Would I be able to communicate my vision to get others as excited as I was? And would readers be interested in what I had to say?

Creating Soulwoman eMagazine was a daring undertaking for me. I had just completed my book, Awaken to Love: A Mindful Path to Healing your Heart and Transforming your Relationship, and I hadn't even begun promoting it. My new direction was completely uncharted.

Despite diving into the unknown, I never experienced fear. I may have wondered how it would all fall into place, but somehow, deep inside, I knew it was meant to be. And I realized very quickly that my intention to create Soulwoman eMagazine was supported by the Universe. As soon as I set foot on this path, incredible individuals appeared on my path. The most amazing, spiritually inclined women committed to providing articles and became active in our private Facebook group for supporters of the eMagazine. The internationally well-known and beloved speaker, author, philosopher and humanitarian, Ariaa Jaeger, allowed me to interview her for our first Women Who Make a Difference segment. Susan Kennedy of PlanetSARK, a woman I've admired for decades, graciously contributed an article on how we can expand our experiences of support. It was one gift after the other, until it felt like it was raining blessings every day.

As the days and weeks went on, even more wonderful people appeared on my path, from bloggers to best-selling authors to esteemed professionals. Admirable influencers took it upon themselves to spread the word on social media and to their own tribes. It was an affirming experience.

But, before this sounds like too 'easy' a manifestation, let me tell you the rest of the story.

I've been at different times a teacher, freelance-journalist, kinesiologist, part-time lecturer, workshop leader, photographer, programs coordinator and trainer, and psychologist for more than twenty years, never feeling completely fulfilled in any one of those roles. I've been building websites since 2008, never actually knowing what I was doing and even though one of those websites gets up to 6000 visitors per day, I was clueless on how to be of service to my visitors. Financial stress often eroded my happiness, try as I did to release it. Personal challenges? Yeah, they were certainly no stranger to me.

Over and over I reminded myself, 'It will happen.' I didn't really know what 'it' was, but I thought I would knew it when I experienced it. This movement toward what I view as my larger life purpose was an interesting juxtaposition. I intuitively knew there was something important I was supposed to be doing, but since I didn't know what it was, I had no idea what action steps to take. At times I found myself in the messy depths of a transformation that felt undoubtedly painful. But, as miserable as I felt at times, I believe my higher self helped me transition out of mindsets that weren't serving me. And, as synchronicity would have it, it was excellent practice for my own spiritual growth. It challenged me to have faith and reminded me to remain hopeful that it is possible to create a different reality for ourselves, and serve the world in bigger, better ways.

It often felt like I was going backward, downward, or sideways, but I gained remarkable skills on the journey. Those times trained me to be resourceful, honed my determination, and inspired me to be persistent in following the callings of my heart.

Ultimately, my understanding of the Law of Attraction changed as I realized: We have to trust that our souls know the way. Yes, it's important to do the work. It's important to say affirmations and make vision boards and set goals and think positive thoughts. It's important to imagine ourselves vividly as magnetic to all that is good.

But the truth is that it all happens in divine timing. We're ready when we're ready, 'it' happens when it happens, and only then can we take action to bring our brilliant ideas to fruition.

Today, I'm committing myself to create goodness in the world through Soulwoman eMagazine and the Soulwoman Sanctuary. I trust that the right people will continue to appear at the right moments to help me carry out this mission. The fact that I attract people who want to help me, continues to delight me. What an amazing gift!

So here's a toast to the alchemy of synchronicity. It's a mighty powerful force!
